The story behind each timber

Australian Mulga timber sample

Australian Mulga (burnt caramel)

Mulga is an incredibly dense hardwood that is found in the arid regions of Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland, Northern Territory and New South Wales . This timber was traditionally used to make boomerangs and spears.

Australian Ancient Redgum

Australian Ancient Redgum (very dark fudge, almost black)

Ancient redgum is a very special native timber. It’s been buried for thousands of years under layers of river sediment. In that time it’s been absorbing minerals in the soil and turned from red to almost black. This timber comes from Victoria.

Australian Redgum timber sample

Australian Redgum (red)

This iconic Australian timber can be found along waterways from Queensland,  New South Wales and Victoria all the way to South Australia.

Australian Sheoak timber sample

Australian Sheoak (orange)

This beautiful Western Australian Sheoak comes from the South West of WA.. I love the flecked grain of this native timber, it’s something very special. It’s created by the large medullary rays that run through the timber and the circular nature of the ring accentuates the pattern.

Australian Fiddleback Blackwood timber sample

Australian Fiddleback Blackwood (dark honey brown with ripple)

Blackwood is a member of the acacia family and comes from Tasmania,  it’s one of my strongest native timbers. It has an incredible natural shimmer that is created by the grain changing directions.

Australian Myrtle timber sample

Australian Myrtle (pink)

This beautiful Tasmanian native timber is highly regarded for fine furniture.

Australian Ringed Gidgee timber sample

Australian Ringed Gidgee (very dark coffee)

This Acacia is incredibly hard, one of the hardest native timbers in fact. It can be found predominately in Queensland but also in New South Wales, Northern Territory and South Australia.

Australian Jarrah timber sample

Australian Jarrah (burgundy red)

Jarrah is found only in the South West of Western Australia and can vary in colour from light salmon to deep burgundy. I like to use Jarrah that is on the darker spectrum and burgundy in colour

Australian Spalted Blackheart Sassafras (cream/pistachio green with black stripe)

This timber has a beautiful varied grain pattern with waves of cream and pistachio green mixed with black stripes. It come from Tasmanian and is highly prized in the furniture industry.

Australian Silky Oak (golden)

Silky Oak or Grevilia Robusta is the largest of the grevilleas and  has an incredible golden flecked grain pattern. This timber comes from Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Australian Beefwood (dark burgundy red)

Silky Oak or Grevillea Robusta is the largest of the grevillea’s and  has an incredible golden flecked grain pattern. This timber comes from Southern Queensland and Northern New South Wales.

Historic Olive Wood (pale golden yellow with warm grey/brown)

The olive wood comes from a limb of a tree that was planted by the first . Premier of Western Australia, Sir John Forrest. It’s an incredibly beautiful piece of olive wood with a subtle striped grain pattern.

Indian rosewood timber sample

Indian Rosewood (purpley brown)

This highly prized timber is often used in stringed instruments such as guitars. It has an incredible smell when its being worked in the studio, hence its name.  The Rosewood I have was purchased from a luthier friend and importer around 20 years ago, I still have a bit left which I use sparingly.

Indian Ebony timber sample

Indian Ebony (black)

This timber is incredibly hard and is often used in musical instruments such as piano’s and guitars.

Ancient New Zealand Swamp Kauri (honey)

This Amazing timber has been buried for up to 50,000 years in peat swamps which has preserved the timber. Its one of the oldest preserved timbers in the world

Purpleheart (purple)

Purpleheart is one of the most vibrant timbers in the world. It’s intense colour is formed as the timber is exposed to oxygen, turning from a subdued dark purple to bright purple.

My environmental commitment

Our natural environment is very special to me, so each time you purchase a ring from my online store I donate a tree through the Carbon Positive Australia. They're a not for profit organisation that helps to restore degraded landscapes in Australia by planting carefully selected indigenous trees and plants.

I ordered a custom made ring for my partner as his wedding ring and I couldn’t be happier with the results, it was exactly what my partner was wanting and adds a special touch to our wedding. Communication was also great I definitely recommend if you are looking for a special gift for someone

  2. Kate

Stunning ring with excellent workmanship. The ring I chose to have made for my son’s 40th birthday has Mulga centre, Ancient Redgum on the edges with the silver liner. He loves this gift. It arrived in the promised timeframe with good packaging. Happy to recommend.

  3. Gab B

Brendon created the most beautiful ring for my partners engagement ring. I looked everywhere to try and find the most authentic ring but nothing could compare to the finished product brendon gave me. He’s fantastic and he will do absolutely anything to ensure needs are met.
    Thank you so much!!!

  4. Simon

I ordererd this ring as an engagement ring and it’s absoloutly beautiful!
The communication with Brendon is great, he will answer any question you might have (including help on choosing the right timers to begin with). In my case there were some difficulties regarding the delivery to Germany and there, too, he helped to make sure the ring arrives safely.
The product itself is flawlessly crafted and the silver ring liner finishes it up perfectly.
If there is ever another occasion where I’d find wooden rings to be fitting (or other jewely, for that matter), I’d buy from Brendon without hesitation again!

  5. Charles

Purchased a ring for our wedding. Ancient Redgum and Australian Redgum. Brendon answered any questions and communication was great, espcially about after care. Product is amazing. The ring is a high quality and unique piece of workmanship.

  6. Amy
