Set sail (Purple Heart and Pink Ivory Wood) | Cufflinks

These faceted wooden cufflinks are made from a beautiful combination of exotic timbers, purple heart, ebony, tagua nut and pink ivory wood. I love how bright and colourful these timbers are, they’re really special.  Each handmade cufflink face is made right here in my Melbourne studio and I set the wooden face onto a sturdy nickel backing that fits any French-cuffed shirt.

Tagua nut is a very interesting material to work with, it’s a very dense nut that’s quite different in its structure to timber. It is easily carved and is often known as “vegetable ivory” because it’s used as an ivory substitute. Tagua nut can be found in many regions of Africa.
