Jewellery Timber Profiles No. 11 Tulipwood

Tulipwood |Studio Brendon Colins unique wooden jewellery made from Australian native and exotic timbers.Tulipwood

This timber has such an amazing colour! The striped colours range from peach to bright pink. The beautiful pattern of the grain is best shown when it is quarter sawn. This gives  a straight grain direction which really shows off the differences in colour.

There are many different types of tulip wood from around the world but they are not all the same species. Different species can be found in Africa, Brazil and Australia.

The tulipwood I use comes from Brazil and, due to its rarity, I use it very sparingly. The small amount of this timber I have was purchased by my father for inlay work 20 years ago.
